Danielle Claseman

Director, Sustainability Policy and Public Affairs

Danielle has more than 16 years of experience leading policy, public affairs, supply chain sustainability and regulatory compliance initiatives for Target. She is an expert in supply chain compliance, human rights, sustainability policy and circularity. She served on the California board of the Circular Action Alliance (CAA), the United States’ first producer responsibility organization to implement extended producer responsibility laws for paper and packaging.

Most recently, she held the role of Circularity Director where she led Target’s Circular Capabilities team as well as Textile Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR); developing strategies that were inclusive of both risk mitigation as well as strategic business opportunities. She regularly engages with key external stakeholders to align with best practices, influence public priorities and enhance credibility.

Throughout her time at Target she worked with a variety of stakeholders including industry, government representatives, non-governmental organizations and suppliers to advance labor rights, responsible trade and improved business practices. She has held a variety of industry leadership roles including the Social Sustainability Committee of the Consumer Good Forum, the ILO’s Alliance 8.7 Business Network’s Advisory Council, the Responsible Business Alliance’s Responsible Labor Initiative Steering Committee and the Forced Labor Sub-Group of the Commercial Customs Operations Advisory Committee. Additionally, she served in a leadership role for Target’s civic engagement network. Danielle holds a Master of Public Policy from the Humphrey Institute and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin.

Danielle has served as the Vice President of the Board for Reuse MN, co-founded and runs the Minnesota Cloth Diaper Bank and offers textile repair services in Minneapolis. She lives in South Minneapolis with her husband, daughter and son.
